Elegant, masterly and full of expression
In a captivating, expressive performance, Anika Vavic, the young woman from Belgrade , zoomed in on the contradictory character of the eccentric conductor Kreisler, taken from E.T.A. Hoffmann's fragment "Opinions of Kater Murr" and transformed musically by Robert Schumann into the composer's Kreisleriana. The already internationally acclaimed pianist combines a powerful attack with elegance, mastery with musical depth and gesture with feeling.
On the way to the top
With Serge Prokofieff's Sonata Nr. 6 in A Major, Op. 82 she also thrilled the audience. She presented the gentle and yet brutal, the richly melodic and the grotesque facets of this composer with brilliance, determined in her excessive mastery and yet securely in command of the exhaustive implementation of the keyboard. Self-willed, she sometimes jeopardizes accuracy, but that only speaks for her temperament and her unrestrained search for a personal, assertive interpretation. She began the recital with Ludwig van Beethoven's Sonata in A Major, Op. 101. Here, too, she penetrated into the depths of the piece with a solid musical concept and did justice not only to the classical but also to the emerging romantic aspects of the sonata. There was much applause for this likeable young pianist on her way to the top.
