Rising Star
Anika Vavic, winner of Karajan and Steinway awards, has graduated at the Vienna University of Music and will tour the world this season, performing for the Vienna Musikverein and Konzerthaus in the “Rising Stars”-cycle
Her programme was recorded by the ORF. A poetically performed Haydn sonata at the beginning is followed by subtly toned pieces by Skrjabin. After Skrjabin's eruptive, but very lightly played waltz Ravel's "Valses nobles" follow, which Vavic models quite distinctly. As the main piece the pianist presents her powerful as well as expressive interpretation of Prokofiev's Sixth. (ORF)
