SCHLOSSKONZERT:
Pianist Anika Vavic thrills in the Schloss Kammer
Anika Vavic presented a fantastic piano recital on Saturday in the „Schlosskonzerte Kammer“. The young star from Belgrade, who perfected her artistry in Vienna, has shone on the music stages of the world since her first appearance at eight years of age and is now much in demand in the international concert halls. The Austrian Public Radio (ORF) has already produced a CD of her recital program performed in the Vienna Musikverein.
The artist possesses a brilliant technique, has a good feeling for tone and wields explosive sound equally as well as meditative and poetic expression. She is highly competent in her interpretation of Josef Haydn's Piano Sonata in D Major, Hob. XVI 19 as well as that of the Scarlatti pieces, allowing their fine structure to shine. On the other hand Vavic delved into Chopin's romantic virtuosity, rendering his Sonata in B-flat Minor just as captivating as the explosive excesses in Serge Prokofjew's Sonata in A Major.
There between the delicate lyricism of Skrjabin's Quatre morceaux, which Vavic presented in the finest shades of tone. The tension of the hall became obvious-there was not even one cough between the movements. The tempestuous applause was recompensed with encores by Scarlatti and Haydn.
