“Die Presse”, 12 December 2003 (Dr.
Gerhard Kramer):
A "Rising Star"- Anika Vavic
The first thing one notices about the "Rising Star" Anika
Vavic is the rare talent of her voluminous, full touch which even
in moments of greatest explosiveness never turns hard or glaring.
Accompanying that is an overwhelming technique which permits sparkling,
selective lightness as well as accurate, tempestuous gales of chords,
all of which is borne on the wings of a natural, vivacious musicality.
Ravel`s Valses nobles et sentimentales produced a show of colors
ranging from "shouting to the skies in delight" to "grieved
to death": Viennese charm subdued by French esprit. And breathtakingly
raged the storms in the pillar movements of Prokofjew`s Sonata No.
6 where dusky, soft chords in the bass contrasted with razor sharp
octave runs in the treble. Well deserved ovations! ghjk
